Telecommunications directory close to publication

The Arizona Telecommunications and Information Council has secured eight sponsors for its Arizona Telecommunications Directory.

The directory will be an online database of voice, video and data providers offering facilities-based services throughout Arizona.

Major sponsors include SRP, Cox Business Services, Intel Corp. and Opnix. Other confirmed sponsors are Winstar Communications, Tempe Tech Oasis, City of Tucson and City of Mesa.

Additional sponsors are still welcome.

ATIC needs $45,000 to complete the directory, which organizers expect to include information about 400 different telecommunications companies offering service in the state.

The information will be broken into 460 geographic segments based on ZIP code and 25 categories of providers, said Mark Goldstein, an ATIC board member and president of International Research Center.

Resellers of voice, video and data services will not be included in the directory, he said.

ATIC has formed a committee to begin building the database, which is expected to be completed later this spring.
