Techies lend a helping hand

Techies also were in full force at Monday night's AZIPA and Tech Oasis Night @ Copper Square joint event at the Arizona Science Center.

According to Ed Nusbaum, AZIPA founder, about 600 people attended.

Many of them who stopped by the University of Advancing Computer Technology's information booth must have been in the charitable spirit. Their contributions helped the university raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley.

The university took advantage of its table at AZIPA to raise funds for the charity by encouraging AZIPA attendees to donate $10. That's the one-year membership required for a child to participate in the club, said Dawn Madden, who coordinated the effort.
