Tech Oasis gains support

The Tech Oasis plan being promoted by the Arizona Software and Internet Association appears to be picking up steam, to use an Industrial Age metaphor.

After seeing the group's idea for a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the needs of technology companies three weeks ago in The Business Journal, Mesa city officials have expressed interest hosting the center there. Tempe and Phoenix officials already are looking into it.

Organizers of the software group say the facility could be a catalyst to a vibrant high-tech hub that would encourage collaboration and make the Valley a more attractive place for technology firms.

And while the group tries to promote high-tech digs for member companies, the group itself is moving out of its Park Central offices in Phoenix into a spare room at the Arizona Technology Incubator in Scottsdale.
